As a Senior Software Engineer in Azure Arc within Azure Core, you will develop a Kubernetes-based platform that enables Azure services to operate beyond traditional cloud boundaries. Your work will focus on building scalable capabilities for managing resources across various environments, including public clouds and on-premises data centers. You will collaborate with multiple teams at Microsoft to enhance Azure experiences for customers. This role involves solving complex distributed systems challenges and contributing to the future of cloud-native management.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Golang, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding OR equivalent experience.
• Experience with containers and Kubernetes.
• Ability to engage in site-reliability engineering practices.
• Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills.
• Experience building RESTful services and developing software hosted in Azure, AWS, or other similar Cloud platforms.
• Experience with Linux virtualization technologies, including QEMU, KVM, libvirt, and virtio.
• Experience with hypervisor architecture, VM lifecycle management, CPU/memory virtualization, NUMA, SR-IOV, and device passthrough.

• Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
• Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Contribute to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provide estimation.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Remain current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.
