The Azure Hardware Diagnostics team is looking for a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop and deploy firmware-driven diagnostic solutions for Azure datacenter hardware. This role involves collaborating with various teams to enhance hardware reliability and availability across Azure server platforms. The engineer will lead efforts in diagnostic readiness, fault isolation, and predictive health monitoring. This position is crucial for ensuring the health of millions of servers that support Microsoft's cloud services.

• Doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ years of technical engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 4+ years of experience, or a Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
• Experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure or hyperscale datacenters.
• 6+ years developing platform firmware or low-level systems software.
• Strong proficiency in C/C++.

• Own firmware-based diagnostic readiness across Azure server platforms from architecture to production support.
• Design diagnostic frameworks across various hardware and software interfaces.
• Lead platform bring-up, validation, and root-cause investigations for complex issues.
• Develop diagnostic telemetry and health monitoring tools to improve fleet reliability.
• Collaborate with silicon vendors and internal teams to define diagnostic requirements.
