Job description
The role of a finite element analyst at Apple involves conducting structural, thermal, and dynamic analysis of sensing technologies. The position focuses on utilizing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to solve engineering problems and develop reliable sensor technologies. The analyst will work closely with product design partners to provide critical insights from simulations, ensuring that designs meet performance and reliability goals. This is a technically challenging opportunity to influence design and impact the sensing technology portfolio.
Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree.
- Experience with Abaqus, ANSYS, COMSOL, or other FEA tools.
- Strong engineering fundamentals in solid mechanics.
- M.S. degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of FEA theory, implementation, and numerical methods.
- Experience solving non-linear solid mechanics problems.
- Experience in FEA applied to high volume consumer electronic products and sensor technologies.
- Experience in additional analysis/simulation areas such as CFD, acoustics, fatigue, and biomechanics.
- Applied knowledge/experience with material testing and material model calibration.
- Modeling nonlinear materials such as soft adhesives, elastomers, and polymers.
- Proficient in Matlab, Python, or other scripting languages.
- Knowledge of GD&T fundamentals.
- Experience in data and statistical analysis.
Responsibilities
- Utilize expertise in Finite Element Analysis to solve engineering problems.
- Perform simulations to assess performance, design sensitivity, and reliability.
- Build FEA models and perform model validation.
- Provide critical design inputs to ensure performance and reliability goals are met.
- Collaborate with product design partners to ensure designs meet requirements.
- Address engineering challenges with a problem-solving, design-driven mindset.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
