The Senior Staff Engineer at GEICO will work closely with Staff and Senior Engineers to innovate and enhance systems while identifying new opportunities to solve critical problems. This role emphasizes technical leadership and collaboration with product managers and engineering teams to develop and execute software development strategies. • 10+ years of professional software development experience within a Java framework (Spring)
• 8+ years of experience with architecture and design
• 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
• 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

• Provide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise across multiple areas.
• Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve tough problems.
• Develop and execute technical software development strategies for various domains.
• Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of solutions.
• Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Mentor and coach engineering and product community members to strengthen technical expertise.
• Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
• Analyze costs and forecasts, incorporating them into business plans.
