Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a quantitative optimization modeler to take ownership of a production linear programming optimization model that supports its complex hardware supply chain. The role involves extending the model's mathematical capabilities and translating supply chain realities into mathematical formulations. The ideal candidate will work closely with various teams to improve supply and resource management while providing actionable insights for executive planning. This position offers an opportunity to influence critical decisions in AI infrastructure through advanced optimization techniques.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Management Science, or a related quantitative field.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in modeling, engineering, or data science.
  • Strong hands-on experience in formulating and solving linear programming or mixed-integer programming problems.
  • Deep understanding of constrained optimization and the mathematical foundations of LP/MIP.
  • Proficiency in mathematical optimization techniques and experience with MATLAB, Julia, R, Python, or similar environments.
  • Understanding of supply chain modeling concepts such as capacity constraints and multi-period planning.
  • Ability to translate complex systems into mathematical formulations and explain model behavior to collaborators.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a hands-on individual contributor while collaborating with senior partners.

Responsibilities

  • Own and extend a production linear programming optimization model.
  • Develop constraint matrices, objective functions, and dual-variable extraction logic.
  • Translate evolving supply chain realities into mathematical formulations.
  • Analyze shadow prices and sensitivities to identify the economic impact of supply constraints.
  • Maintain the integrity of model inputs and assumptions.
  • Partner with supply chain, procurement, operations, and engineering teams to identify high-value planning decisions.
  • Serve as a quantitative thought partner to senior supply chain leadership.
  • Explore opportunities to augment optimization with AI and machine learning technologies.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
