This role involves end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology, contributing to products that enhance user interaction. The team values creativity and collaboration, working together to push the boundaries of technology. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that designs meet high standards and are feasible for mass production.
Requirements
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials and thermodynamics.
- 3D CAD experience is required, with Siemens NX CAD fluency preferred.
- Experience in high volume mass production or consumer electronics is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printers, CNC mills, lathes, and other fabrication methods.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology.
- Identify design tradeoffs and risks to choose viable paths forward.
- Apply good experiment design and the scientific method to reduce design risk early.
- Run tolerance studies to ensure designs are feasible over manufacturing tolerances.
- Drive processes to meet Apple's high cosmetic standards.
- Support external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
