The Network Development Engineer (NDE) role within the AWS Networking organization focuses on designing and architecting resilient networks that support Amazon's vast connectivity needs. The team is responsible for developing new network designs and implementing large-scale networks while ensuring operational excellence. NDEs will tackle complex challenges in a high-stakes environment, working closely with internal partners to enhance network performance and reliability. This position offers the opportunity to influence strategic decisions that impact the entire organization.

• 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
• 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
• 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
• Experience working in large-scale networking environments
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols
• Proficient in major network technologies such as VLAN, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, BGP, MPBGP, GRE, VXLAN, OSPF, and SDN

• Develop and validate new network designs.
• Architect, implement, and operate large-scale networks.
• Champion operational excellence in AWS networking.
• Demonstrate expertise in distributed control-plane network routing designs.
• Improve consistency and integration between data center access network layer and related data center fabric networks.
• Identify and solve ambiguous network problems and operational deficiencies.
