Job description
The Principal Engineer, Resource Optimization and Fleet Logic at Google will lead the architectural strategy for the global capacity planning ecosystem. This role involves overseeing the technical authority for complex planning constraints and optimization scenarios to ensure optimal capacity is deployed efficiently. The engineer will work closely with various teams to integrate AI-driven solutions and enhance fleet management systems. This position is crucial for supporting Google's extensive computational fleet and meeting the demands of internal and external AI/ML customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience as a software engineer.
- Experience delivering large-scale capacity planning, IaaS/PaaS solutions, or fleet management systems.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
- Deep understanding of modern AI/ML infrastructure demands.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of next generation global fleet planning.
- Define a multi-year engineering roadmap to deliver 10x more data center capacity.
- Leverage technical knowledge across the data center stack to model and forecast fleet resources.
- Partner with AI & Infrastructure organizations to define a unified capacity management product suite.
- Integrate AI/ML and advanced mathematical optimization into capacity planning workflows.
