The Microsoft AI Frameworks team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop software and engineering tools that enhance AI model performance and reliability at cloud scale. This hands-on role involves solving complex systems problems and collaborating with various teams to deliver impactful solutions. The ideal candidate will possess strong software engineering skills and a keen interest in AI workloads. Responsibilities include translating model needs into robust software and driving projects from definition to deployment.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience coding in languages such as C++ or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Expertise in GPU or equivalent accelerator programming and kernel optimization using CUDA, Triton, or comparable technologies.
• Experience using profiling and benchmarking to deliver measurable performance improvements.
• Familiarity with vLLM, SGLang, or equivalent inference frameworks.

• Design, implement, test, and operate production-quality components across AI frameworks and performance tooling.
• Benchmark, profile, debug, and optimize large language model training and inference workloads.
• Build automation and observability to detect regressions and improve reproducibility.
• Drive scoped projects from problem definition through deployment, balancing delivery speed and reliability.
• Partner with researchers and hardware vendors to diagnose cross-stack issues.
