Job description
The Senior Cloud Hardware Engineer will be part of the Azure Memory and Storage Center of Excellence, focusing on scaling Azure's Fault Self-Healing and Failure Prediction systems. This role involves building the platform behind Azure's fault self-healing and failure-prediction system, ensuring high availability and reliability of cloud infrastructure. The team is dedicated to delivering high-quality memory and storage solutions while driving automation and efficiency. The engineer will work with AI agents to enhance the operational capabilities of Microsoft's cloud services.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating production software, distributed services, data platforms, or large-scale automation.
- Proficiency in Python and C# (or C++/Rust), plus experience with cloud-scale data pipelines at high volume.
- Experience with AI/ML in production, including agent or model serving, evaluation, versioning and rollback, and drift and regression monitoring.
- Familiarity with LLM application patterns, including agent/tool-calling and structured output.
- A proven track record of automation that takes real actions on real infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Build the platform behind Azure's fault self-healing and failure-prediction system with telemetry pipelines, prediction services, decision logic, and automated repair workflows.
- Ship AI agents to production, including prompt and tool design, retrieval over diagnostics data, and evaluation harnesses.
- Implement automated remediation with staged rollout, blast-radius limits, and verification.
- Own the developer experience by creating SDKs, APIs, and dashboards for engineers to author and deploy new detection and repair logic.
- Build and monitor measurements such as prediction precision/recall, false-repair rate, and action success rate.
Benefits
- Employees at Microsoft are often offered comprehensive, “world-class” benefits—including health and mental-wellness programs, competitive pay with bonuses and stock awards, and retirement/savings options. Time-off and flexibility are common, with generous vacation and holidays, parental and caregiver leave, and flexible work schedules, alongside learning support, employee resource groups, product discounts, and matching-gifts/volunteering programs. Specific benefits can vary by region.
