GEICO is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Infrastructure Automation Tools team. This role focuses on driving the tech transformation towards engineering excellence and automation. The team is responsible for managing a private cloud environment and developing automated tools for infrastructure management. The engineer will work closely with various teams to ensure effective operations and maintenance of the server fleet.

• Professional development experience in one or more of Python, Go, Rust, or C.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Ansible and Terraform in an enterprise private cloud environment.
• Hands-on experience in OS and firmware management strategies in a private cloud environment.
• Understanding of OpenStack and proven success in elevating server fleet management and automation practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

• Drive innovation of OS and firmware update strategies to ensure good testing, stability, performance, security, and remote management capabilities.
• Develop tools and processes for automated testing of servers and operating system images.
• Devise and implement automation scripts and tools for a wide range of fleet management tasks using IaC and traditional programming languages.
• Work closely with OpenStack, Storage, and Hybrid Cloud teams to understand automation needs for managing the private cloud.
• Develop hardware lifecycle strategies, assessing ongoing performance, cost-effectiveness, and longevity from procurement to decommissioning.
