The Machine Learning Technical Lead will guide the technical direction of the Human Sensing team within the Intelligent System Experience organization. This role focuses on driving project scoping, setting evaluation standards, and shaping dataset collection strategies for multimodal human sensing. The lead will work on advanced machine learning applications that enhance user experiences across Apple platforms. The position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure alignment and rapid execution of technical initiatives.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with 6+ years of industry experience in Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
• Proven experience in a Technical Lead or Staff-level role driving project scoping and setting KPIs.
• Strong expertise in evaluating complex ML systems and conducting deep-dive failure analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate engineering teams and mentor peers.
• Deep proficiency in Python and PyTorch with hands-on experience in managing shared repositories.
• Deep domain knowledge in face recognition, identity re-identification, or visual human sensing.
• Experience with on-device model optimization and production-grade ML pipelines.

• Act as the principal technical driver and trusted partner to engineering leadership.
• Define project milestones and establish quantitative KPI targets.
• Direct the data strategy by identifying dataset requirements and collection protocols.
• Spearhead the Evaluation Framework and design thorough evaluation protocols.
• Build diagnostic tools and automation scripts to isolate failure modes and accelerate model iteration.
• Drive cross-functional engagements across Data, Evaluation, and Platform Integration teams.
• Serve as a hands-on technical anchor by conducting failure analysis and driving model optimizations.
• Maintain high codebase health through rigorous PR reviews and core repository stewardship.
