The role is focused on building AI teammate capabilities within the AWS Applied AI Solutions organization. You will start in a Lab environment, developing innovative solutions that enhance the relationship between humans and AI systems. The team emphasizes a collaborative approach, blending technology with user experience to create intuitive products. As an Applied Scientist, you will own the hypotheses and evaluations, ensuring that your work leads to successful product adoption.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Experience with the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience with Machine Learning and Large Language Model fundamentals
• Experience building with large language models or agent frameworks in a product
• Experience learning an unfamiliar language or runtime to solve a problem
• Experience building native mobile applications
• Experience with multimodal input or output
• Experience partnering with design, product, and behavioral research

• Build AI teammate capabilities in the Lab from a thesis to a working product
• Implement experiments designed by the Applied Scientist and turn research results into working software
• Deploy into a product team and drive your capability into their product
• Own adoption of what you build and measure its success
• Identify and correct breakdowns in the host team's hands
• Partner with UX designers and product teams to deliver complete humorphic experiences
• Transfer architecture and scaling to the product team with proper documentation
• Contribute your work back into the shared humorphic layer
• Write tested code and review the code of others
• Present work to the host team and participate in internal reviews
