Job description
The Platform Hardware Design Engineer will lead the development of platform hardware by translating high-level system requirements into detailed specifications. This role involves overseeing the entire design lifecycle, from schematic capture to board debugging and customer delivery. The engineer will work collaboratively with various teams to ensure high performance and compatibility of the hardware. The position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 7+ years of hands-on experience, OR Master's degree in a relevant field with 5+ years of experience, OR PhD in a relevant field with 3+ years of experience.
- Experience in PCB design and layout processes, including component specification and routing rules.
- Experience in hardware debugging, electrical interface design, and mixed-signal/analog fundamentals.
- Experience in analyzing design trade-offs at the platform level and optimizing system compatibility.
- Experience with CMOS technologies, digital and analog board design, and power-on fundamentals.
Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end development of platform hardware and translate platform-level requirements to circuit and component-level specifications.
- Design, develop, modify, and evaluate electronic parts, components, PCB, or integrated circuitry for hardware platforms.
- Conduct logical design of printed circuit boards through component definition and schematic capture.
- Define component placement and circuit trace routing rules, and oversee board layout from feasibility studies to board tapeout.
- Consider BOM cost and availability data versus design tradeoffs at the board and system levels.
- Apply design expertise to define processes for technical platforms and system specifications.
- Incorporate feedback from other functions to improve development methods.
- Perform design research and verification, development, testing, and utilization of firmware and hardware components.
- Collaborate with architects and other engineers to plan and lead platform hardware power-on and debug activities.
- Resolve system development and bring up issues to deliver high-quality boards and platforms.
Benefits
- Intel offers a comprehensive benefits package including competitive pay, stock programs, healthcare coverage, retirement plans, paid time off, parental leave, and programs supporting employee wellbeing and professional development.
