The Haptic Engineering team at Apple is focused on developing innovative haptic solutions for products like the iPhone and Apple Watch. The team aims to enhance user experience through cutting-edge haptic technology. We are looking for a Product Design / Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and validation of next-generation haptic actuators. This role involves collaboration with various teams and vendors to bring concepts to production.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanics.
- Skilled at problem-solving using tools like the scientific method and root cause analysis.
- Proficient with mechanical or electromagnetic FEA tools.
- Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, material science, and basic chemistry.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Project experience in consumer electronics product design.
- Design and/or research experience with haptic technologies.
- Experience in the design and application of electromagnetic actuators.
- Expert knowledge of electro-mechanics and dynamics.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as JMP, MATLAB, and Excel.
- High volume mass production experience, including DFM.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of haptic actuators from concept to production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors to achieve project goals.
- Validate the performance and integration of haptic actuators.
- Apply problem-solving techniques to address design challenges.
- Utilize CAD tools for mechanical design and drafting.
- Conduct tolerance analysis and ensure design meets specifications.
- Engage in research and development of new haptic technologies.
