The Senior Software Development Engineer role on the Amazon OpenSearch Service team focuses on designing, developing, and supporting a world-class search platform for a diverse customer base. The team is dedicated to tackling complex data, search, and analytics challenges while working in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Candidates will have the opportunity to contribute to open-source software and lead architectural decisions. This position requires a passion for AI, search, analytics, and distributed systems.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design, develop, and support a world-class search platform serving customers of all sizes
• Produce robust, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java and Python
• Work on OpenSearch open-source software with opportunities to contribute upstream
• Lead architecture and design decisions, and mentor other engineers on the team
• Challenge existing systems and explore changes to meet evolving customer needs
• Drive algorithm and architecture design, execute, and deliver results
