The Systems Development Engineer role focuses on transforming the Windows infrastructure at Amazon Dedicated Cloud into a DevOps-driven engineering team. The position involves designing and implementing automation architecture, specifically using Ansible and AWS tools, to eliminate manual processes and enhance scalability. The engineer will also maintain production services and participate in an on-call rotation. A key aspect of the role is mentoring junior engineers and establishing engineering standards for the team.

• 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 1+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
• 5+ years of experience in systems design, software development, operations, automation, and process improvement
• Experience with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
• Deep knowledge of Active Directory architecture and Windows Server infrastructure
• Experience with AWS CDK for defining infrastructure
• Experience operating in air-gapped or isolated network environments
• Familiarity with ECM/SCCM/MECM for OS deployment and patch management
• Experience designing Ansible automation for Windows targets

• Design and implement the Ansible automation framework for managing Core Services infrastructure at scale
• Develop and maintain AWS CI/CD pipelines for delivering infrastructure changes
• Build CloudWatch-based observability for proactive visibility into service health
• Maintain production Windows infrastructure services and participate in on-call rotation
• Identify and migrate manual runbook processes to code-defined automation
• Define patterns for infrastructure-as-code and establish engineering standards
• Guide junior engineers on automation practices and operational excellence
• Create and maintain architecture documentation and operational runbooks
