The Software Development Engineer II will join the Core Networking team within AWS Infrastructure Services, focusing on developing tools, automation, and data infrastructure for monitoring and managing interconnect products. This role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the AWS network operates at peak performance. The engineer will work on building scalable and reliable software systems that directly impact network availability for AWS customers. • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

• Design, develop, deploy, and operate software systems for monitoring and managing interconnect products across the AWS fleet.
• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and tooling for validating optical transceivers and fiber connectivity products.
• Build and maintain data ingestion, processing, and storage systems for optics and fiber telemetry data.
• Design and deliver distributed systems for link-level testing, validation, and troubleshooting workflows across AWS regions.
• Collaborate with Applied Scientists to build ML/science model serving infrastructure.
• Independently clarify requirements and deliver system-level solutions for complex problems.
• Participate in on-call rotation and lead troubleshooting of production issues.
• Automate and simplify team operations processes to improve service resilience and performance.
• Produce high-quality, well-tested code and actively participate in code reviews.
• Communicate effectively about technical work and document system architecture and operations.
