Job description

The Product Design Architect role at Google focuses on developing consumer devices that integrate Google's software and hardware capabilities. The team is part of Google's Hardware Design organization and aims to create aesthetically pleasing, production-ready designs. As a Product Design Architect, you will leverage 3D CAD software to translate design concepts into tangible products while collaborating with various teams. The position requires a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and a commitment to delivering high-quality consumer products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or Industrial Design.
  • 6 years of experience in consumer product design, particularly in the consumer electronics industry.
  • Experience with 3D surfacing using NX/Alias.
  • A portfolio or relevant links showcasing previous work.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize NX/Alias to maintain industrial design intent from initial sketches and discussions.
  • Collaborate with Industrial Design, UX, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to produce Class-A surfaces.
  • Create high-quality 3D surfaces for design concepts, prototypes, and engineering evaluations.
  • Travel to manufacturing facilities as needed to ensure design viability.
  • Stay informed about new materials and processes to enhance product development.
