Job description
The internship role at Rivian focuses on supporting the Homologation team in managing global regulatory requirements for their electric vehicles. Interns will work closely with engineering teams to improve workflows and maintain a requirements database. This position provides hands-on exposure to homologation testing and the documentation necessary for regulatory approvals. Candidates will gain valuable experience in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the compliance foundation behind Rivian's product launches.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a master's degree in mechanical, automotive, aerospace engineering, or a related field from an accredited university.
- Strong grasp of engineering fundamentals and first-principles problem solving.
- Experience interpreting and applying technical rulesets or standards, such as FSAE/Baja design rules or code compliance.
- Comfortable with structured data and requirements tooling, including Excel and similar software.
- Self-starter with effective written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Research and identify global regulatory requirements applicable to Rivian vehicle platforms.
- Maintain and improve the requirements database.
- Design and document workflows for tracking requirements from identification through certification evidence.
- Support preparation and review of vehicle and component certification documentation.
- Partner with engineering teams to gather technical data and translate regulatory language into engineering requirements.
- Support planning of homologation testing across different subject areas.
- Identify and implement tool and process improvements to reduce manual effort in requirements management.
