Rivian is seeking an expert AV data strategist to develop data collection frameworks that support next-generation autonomous driving models. This role involves working at the intersection of systems engineering, machine learning infrastructure, and vehicle operations. The ideal candidate will ensure that models are trained on high-quality, diverse datasets while adhering to vehicle constraints. The position requires collaboration with various teams to identify data needs and gaps, ultimately enhancing the performance of autonomous systems.

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, Data Science or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, data strategy, or MLOps, preferably in the autonomous driving or robotics industry.
• Understanding of autonomy data requirements for perception models and training lifecycles.
• Demonstrated ability to build technical frameworks and drive consensus among cross-functional teams.
• Medium to strong programming skills in Python and one or more query languages.

• Define and document comprehensive data requirements for training and evaluation across the autonomy stack.
• Build and manage a decision-making framework with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Devise strategies to capture required data from the fleet based on gap analysis.
• Ensure data meets recall, precision, and diversity requirements while adhering to privacy and bandwidth constraints.
• Collaborate with Autonomy ML teams to identify model failure modes and define data mining requirements.
• Define strategies for data slicing tailored to autonomy perception and planning models.
• Coordinate the deployment of tagging with data and cloud teams.
• Curate diverse, high-fidelity datasets capturing targeted ODD scenes and human driving demonstrations.
• Review and provide strategic inputs on perception taxonomy requirements.
• Define system metrics to evaluate the health and diversity of driving datasets.
