As a Staff Vehicle Test Engineer at Rivian, you will be responsible for conducting full vehicle and sub-system development and validation testing at various locations, including the Arizona Proving Grounds. The role requires you to act as a Subject Matter Expert in specific technical areas while leading and coordinating field tests across multiple vehicle line programs. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the validity of test results and facilitate rapid issue resolution. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in automotive testing and a passion for innovation.

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science from an accredited university.
• 5+ years of applicable experience in the automotive or a related industry.
• Master’s degree or higher in a related field with 7+ years of applicable experience is preferred.
• Thorough understanding of primary vehicle systems and experience in vehicle level and component level tests.
• Familiarity with work management systems such as JIRA, JAMA, or Confluence.

• Plan, track, lead, and report on results from field tests across multiple vehicle line programs.
• Perform as a Subject Matter Expert on the Test Team in one or more technical focus areas.
• Develop high level timing plans and budget for vehicle resources, staff, and logistics.
• Create test documentation including test instructions, specifications, and verification plans.
• Prepare and update test vehicles and document their condition and performance.
• Execute and document full vehicle, sub-systems, and component level testing.
• Drive vehicles under varied conditions and perform evaluations to identify system failure modes.
• Lead root cause analysis for failures and issues, documenting and tracking using JIRA.
• Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure validity of test results and rapid issue resolution.
