Job description

Jacobs is seeking a Structural/Bridge Engineering Intern to join their Transportation team in Baltimore, MD. This role involves working on innovative engineering projects for both private and public sector clients, focusing on the design, analysis, and maintenance of structural systems, particularly bridges. Interns will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and gain practical experience under the guidance of professional engineers. This position offers a unique opportunity to blend theoretical knowledge with hands-on application in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related specialization from an accredited ABET university.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Office Suite.
  • Experience or coursework related to the design of concrete or steel structures.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • Familiarity with Microstation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and analysis of structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure projects.
  • Perform evaluations of structures with varying degrees of complexity.
  • Prepare plans, designs, calculations, and cost estimates under the supervision of experienced engineers.
  • Contribute to the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Work collaboratively with a technical team to ensure project success.
