The Security Engineer role within AWS Forward Deployed Engineering focuses on securing production-grade AI systems deployed in customer environments. The team emphasizes hands-on security engineering, where the engineer will write code, conduct security reviews, and implement security controls. This position offers the opportunity to learn AI security in a fast-paced environment while working closely with senior security engineers. The role requires a proactive approach to identifying vulnerabilities and implementing fixes before production release.

• 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting systems issues, analyzing logs, or automating tasks using command line tools.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in scripting, programming, and security code review in common programming languages.
• 2+ years of experience identifying security issues and developing mitigation plans.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience building AI or agentic systems.
• Experience with security in service-oriented architectures, microservices, and web services.
• US government security clearance of top secret or above.
• Experience with compliance and security standards including PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and NIST.
• Experience with AWS technologies.
• Knowledge of at least two programming languages such as Scala, Java, Python, C/C++, or Go.

• Conduct security design reviews, code reviews, and architecture assessments for production AI systems.
• Perform threat modeling and penetration testing for AI/ML applications deployed in customer environments.
• Build and maintain security automation tools for forward-deployed AI systems.
• Implement security controls for AI-specific threats.
• Support security incident response for FDE-delivered production AI systems.
• Document security findings and remediation guidance as reusable playbooks and runbooks.
• Contribute to the FDE security accelerator library.
