Job description
The APTD LYA Engineer role is focused on supporting back-end package assembly and wafer level assembly sort and test fails to identify yield loss and in-line failures. The engineer will work collaboratively with a team to conduct analyses and engineering tests, aiming to determine root causes of electrical failures. This lab-based position requires effective communication and project management skills, as well as the ability to work across various teams and with external suppliers. The engineer will also develop innovative techniques for failure analysis and provide consultation on packaging and assembly improvements.
Requirements
- Must possess a Bachelor's Degree with at least 2 years of experience or a Master's Degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemistry and Physics or a related field.
- Prior experience working in a lab environment is preferred.
- Experience with destructive and optical analysis techniques such as manual cross-sectioning and delayering, SEM, x-ray, microscopy, CSAM, ion milling, TEM, and FIB is preferred.
- Experience performing electrical fault isolation and failure analysis using various techniques is preferred.
- Knowledge of package or die mapping software and expertise in SQL scripting and basic statistical analysis tools is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Work across team boundaries to achieve strategic objectives and meet program deliverables.
- Understand program milestones and schedules, translating them into team objectives and driving execution.
- Interface with internal teams and external suppliers to improve yield and drive innovation.
- Conduct hands-on lab work, define data acquisition strategies, and recommend corrective actions to internal customers.
- Develop innovative failure analysis techniques and approaches to accelerate failure identification.
- Provide consultation on packaging and assembly problems and improvements in the manufacturing process.
- Respond to customer requests or events as they occur.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills while communicating findings effectively.
