The Software Development Engineer (SDE-2) role focuses on designing, building, and operating scalable software systems for capacity management within Amazon's outbound fulfillment network. The position is part of the PACMAN team under the Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) organization, which tackles complex supply chain challenges at Amazon scale. The engineer will develop production-grade services that analyze capacity utilization trends and detect risk patterns in real time. This role requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience

• Design and implement software solutions across major portions of the team's systems.
• Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and cross-functional peers to understand business requirements.
• Participate actively in the full software development lifecycle, including system design and code reviews.
• Mentor and coach other engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Identify root causes of operational issues and drive permanent fixes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Science, and Product teams to design and implement new capacity tracking features.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs for capacity tracking.
• Investigate and resolve production issues through root-cause analysis.
• Ensure peak event readiness by conducting performance and load testing.
