Job description

The Sr. Controls and Automation Engineer at Rivian will play a pivotal role in the Remanufacturing Team, focusing on the implementation and deployment of automation controls and standards. This position requires a hands-on approach to conceive, design, and maintain automation solutions while collaborating with both internal engineers and external vendors. The engineer will also manage project execution, ensuring adherence to Rivian's best practices and facilitating continuous improvement in automation processes. This role is essential in driving innovation and efficiency within Rivian's manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in robotics for industrial automation.
  • Demonstrated team leadership, collaboration, and facilitation skills.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience with various welding and material handling systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on production operations experience with a focus on overall equipment efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a PLC Controls and Automation subject matter expert.
  • Enforce and apply Rivian standards and best practices.
  • Conceive, design, build, implement, and maintain automation solutions.
  • Manage internal and external resources to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Coordinate buyoffs and commissioning with integrators and subcontractors.
  • Perform safety buyoffs of robot and operator safety systems.
  • Manage project execution and schedule by working closely with integrators and suppliers.
  • Develop solutions for processes not covered in Rivian standards.
  • Establish relationships across departments to drive learning and problem-solving.
  • Provide technical support and direction to support personnel.
