The Principal Engineer for Google Compute Engine, Specialized Instances will focus on establishing a workload-optimized portfolio roadmap for GCE instances that cater to the demands of large-scale AI/ML clusters and mission-critical applications. This role involves managing the design, development, and optimization of specialized instances, ensuring they meet stringent resource and performance requirements. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams and hardware architects to enhance performance and efficiency. This position is part of the AI and Infrastructure team, which is dedicated to redefining cloud computing capabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of experience in software development, including software design, data structures, algorithms, debugging, and analysis on customer-facing products.
• 10 years of experience with private and public cloud design considerations, including operating systems, virtualization, and large-scale distributed systems.
• 10 years of experience in cloud compute infrastructure and storage or networking.

• Establish an industry-leading workload-optimized portfolio roadmap by defining GCE instances for AI/ML clusters and mission-critical applications.
• Lead the design, development, and optimization of GCE instances tailored to unique workload performance and reliability needs.
• Build understanding of enterprise and AI/ML segments to identify current and future requirements for GCE instances.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to tech leads responsible for various aspects of the specialized GCE instance portfolio.
