The Azure Storage team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on next-generation storage platforms for Microsoft Azure. This role involves engineering fundamental layers of the Azure storage service, focusing on building and optimizing a distributed file system. The position offers the opportunity to influence large-scale distributed systems and work with cutting-edge technologies. Candidates will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to ensuring high availability, reliability, and cost efficiency in cloud storage solutions.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Java.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, or Java is preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in software engineering practices, coding, and a solid foundation in data structures and algorithms.
• 3+ years of experience in Storage, File-Systems, Distributed Systems, Operating Systems, or Networking (TCP & RDMA) at scale.

• Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
• Contribute to the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
• Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Contribute to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provide estimation.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
