Job description
The DCEO Cluster Manager at Amazon is a strategic senior management role responsible for overseeing multiple data center facilities and their infrastructure. This position requires exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record in managing complex technical operations. The successful candidate will ensure operational excellence and maintain 100% service uptime across their cluster. This role involves collaboration with various teams and a commitment to Amazon's mission of customer-centricity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of managing managers experience
- 10+ years of mission critical facilities experience
- In-depth knowledge of data center facilities such as generators, chillers, and UPS systems
- Experience with process improvement techniques such as Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma
- Experience with large-scale technical operations or large-scale compute farms
- Broad knowledge of information technology infrastructure domains and IT service delivery principles
Responsibilities
- Hire, manage, and develop the operations management team including facility managers and area managers
- Establish performance benchmarks and prepare reports on critical facility operations
- Manage on-site technicians and ensure compliance with established practices
- Build and maintain a sustainable organizational structure
- Mentor and develop employees within the team
- Oversee operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
- Manage facility-related repairs in a timely manner
- Liaise with a global team on initiatives and implement them locally
- Manage vendor relationships to meet performance SLAs
- Lead energy efficiency initiatives within the cluster
- Support capacity planning and management for ongoing construction activities
