The Senior System Development Engineer role at AWS focuses on developing automated test systems for networking products that are essential to Amazon's cloud infrastructure. • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, or Ruby
• Experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems, and hands-on systems engineering
• Experience with Linux/Unix
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience with distributed systems at scale
• Knowledge of Layer 2/3 networking protocols and hands-on experience with load balancers, switches, routers, etc.
• Experience qualifying networking hardware platforms and managing cross-team release-qualification dependencies
• Familiarity with network test tools and traffic generators, such as IXIA or Spirent

• Design, build, and maintain automated test systems that scale across platforms and network roles.
• Integrate test systems with lab infrastructure and orchestration services for device lifecycle management.
• Own the reliability and maintainability of components by eliminating flakiness and driving down qualification runtimes.
• Show creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness.
• Debug complex, cross-layer failures spanning test infrastructure, software, and hardware.
• Partner with software, hardware, and networking teams to simulate complex real-world network designs.
• Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, and mentoring of junior engineers.
