The Software Development Engineer II role focuses on building an AI-powered conversational agent for Amazon Marketing Cloud, transforming how advertisers interact with data. The team is dedicated to developing large language model-based experiences that simplify complex analytical workflows. This position requires collaboration across science, product, and engineering to deliver impactful products for millions of advertisers. Ideal candidates will have a strong coding foundation and experience in distributed systems.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, or distributed software applications
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Design and build core backend services powering the LLM-based conversational assistant for Amazon Marketing Cloud
• Own end-to-end delivery of features from system design through production deployment
• Build scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to process petabyte-scale advertising data
• Collaborate with applied scientists to integrate ML models and improve response quality
• Implement and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest and process advertising data
• Write clean, well-tested code and participate in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards
• Debug and resolve production issues, participating in on-call rotations as needed
