Fauna Robotics is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to develop cloud services that connect robots to customer experiences and internal operations. The team focuses on creating safe and delightful robots for everyday life, emphasizing the integration of hardware and software systems. The ideal candidate will have experience in building distributed systems and will work collaboratively across various teams. This role involves hands-on design and implementation while making architectural tradeoffs.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
• Experience working in a cloud-based development and production environment such as AWS
• Experience owning a service end to end, including design, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and incident response
• Experience building backends for physical devices with connectivity challenges
• Experience with device or fleet connectivity at scale, such as MQTT or AWS IoT Core
• Experience with real-time telemetry ingestion and streaming technologies
• Experience with over-the-air update delivery and staged fleet rollouts
• Experience securing connected devices and managing data privacy
• Experience with infrastructure as code and operational tooling

• Build and own the cloud services that connect a growing fleet of robots to customer experiences and internal operations
• Build operational telemetry ingestion pipelines that process high-frequency robot signals
• Select technologies where the stack is undefined and document the decisions
• Join the on-call rotation for the services you own and drive incident response
• Work with science, engineering, and product teams to define requirements and operationalize new workflows
