The Principal Software Engineer will lead the design and implementation of next-generation PubSub solutions within the Azure Event Grid engineering team at Microsoft. This role focuses on building scalable, reliable, and high-availability messaging systems that empower organizations to act on real-time data. The engineer will mentor team members, drive operational excellence, and collaborate with various stakeholders to shape the product roadmap. Additionally, the role involves improving AI tools and practices across the software development lifecycle.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 8+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in building highly-scalable cloud services.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems.
• Experience in building Messaging brokers or Pub Sub systems is an added advantage.

• Drive requirements and design by partnering with stakeholders to define and refine messaging system requirements.
• Champion coding best practices, design patterns, and reusable frameworks across the team.
• Define testing strategies for messaging system components and drive improvements in test coverage.
• Improve engineering productivity by identifying tooling gaps and designing internal tools.
• Drive incident response and operational excellence as a DRI, monitoring messaging systems for degradation and service interruptions.
