Job description

The Transportation Engineering Intern (Traffic) role at Jacobs involves working as a key member of the Traffic Engineering group in Texas offices, focusing on transportation and traffic engineering projects. Interns will engage in tasks related to traffic operations, safety analysis, and traffic design using advanced software tools. This position emphasizes collaboration and effective communication within project teams and with clients. The internship is designed for students pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation.

Requirements

  • In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering in an accredited program with an emphasis in transportation.
  • Interest in Traffic.
  • A previous internship related to your field of study is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management within Jacobs.
  • Self-driven time management and organizational skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • Perform traffic analysis tasks such as data collection, reporting analysis results, and writing technical reports.
  • Conduct civil design calculations, sketches, drawings, and technical comparisons as required by assignments.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and OpenRoads.
  • Research design options and document findings for project engineers and/or project managers.
  • Assist with duties assigned by project engineers and/or project managers.
  • Maintain effective communication with project team members and clients.
