The Principal Security Engineer role at Microsoft Digital's Network Defense Engineering team focuses on leading cloud and hybrid network security initiatives. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 6+ years of technical experience in relevant engineering roles.
• 5+ years of technical experience working with large-scale cloud or distributed systems.
• Deep experience securing Azure network infrastructure and its components.
• Experience with enterprise hybrid connectivity and its security implications.
• Experience with cloud security posture and governance at scale.
• Experience with cloud threat detection and response tools.
• Experience delivering security automation and infrastructure as code.
• Experience applying a security framework to build and mature enterprise security programs.
• Experience in SOC, SecOps, or InfoSec environments.
• Relevant industry certifications such as AZ-500, SC-100, CISSP, or equivalent.

• Lead the design and implementation of cloud and hybrid network security across Microsoft's Azure estate.
• Extend NDE's security programs into the cloud space using industry-standard cybersecurity frameworks.
• Create and monitor action plans for telemetry data to improve detection and troubleshooting.
• Lead AI-driven security operations across cloud, network, and infrastructure environments.
• Respond to incidents and complex issues as a senior technical lead in the on-call rotation.
• Build coalitions of support across various teams to deliver cross-organization projects.
• Ensure adherence to security, privacy, and compliance standards while mentoring other engineers.
