The Quantum Runtime Framework Intern role at IBM Quantum is designed for motivated computer science students interested in developing large-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computers. The intern will focus on enhancing the local developer experience related to automated bringup and integration testing of software components. This position involves working closely with various teams to identify and address developer-experience gaps. The intern will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment.

• Pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with Rust and Docker.
• Experience with local Kubernetes environments such as K3s or Minikube.
• Experience with Git, Linux, and command-line environments.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills.

• Improve local developer experience for automated bringup and integration testing of runtime software components.
• Design and implement Bazel-based build and test workflows for runtime framework components.
• Develop and maintain local Kubernetes environments that reproduce production-like test scenarios.
• Containerize and automate integration test pipelines using Docker.
• Collaborate with runtime, compiler, and systems software teams to identify and close developer-experience gaps.
