The role involves working as a Simulation Engineer within the Camera & Depth Architecture team, focusing on designing and developing high-throughput simulation frameworks for camera systems. The team is dedicated to creating innovative imaging experiences by collaborating with cross-functional teams to define hardware specifications and performance metrics. Candidates should have expertise in imaging, optical system design, or computer vision, and a strong background in simulation processes. The goal is to enhance the camera technology used in Apple products.

• BS degree and a minimum of 10+ years of relevant industry experience in Optics, Physics, or a related field.
• Programming experience in at least one of the coding languages: Python, C, C++ or MATLAB.
• Proficiency in at least one of the optics packages: Zemax, CodeV, LightTools or similar.
• Experience with imaging system design, optical design, computational imaging, or stray light.
• MS/PhD degree in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience in project management and driving projects independently in ambiguous problem spaces.
• Published research in optical engineering, imaging, computational photography, or related fields.
• Experience with diffraction, sequential or non-sequential raytracing, beam propagation, radiometry, or sensor physics.
• Data analysis from manufacturing sources, validation and correlation against real hardware.

• Design, develop, and maintain high-throughput simulation frameworks to generate synthetic imagery on-demand.
• Build and refine models of camera systems from sensor to lens to simulate real-world imaging performance.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define hardware design specifications and key performance metrics.
• Develop novel metrology, calibration, and simulation processes for machine-vision-driven experiences.
