This role is focused on defining the future of serverless compute within the Amazon Athena team. The team is building a compute orchestration platform that simplifies the management of distributed compute workers for analytics workloads. You will collaborate with senior engineers and gain expertise in distributed systems and serverless compute orchestration. Your contributions will have a significant impact on AWS's analytics offerings and customer experiences.

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
• Experience as a mentor or tech lead for an engineering team
• 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

• Own end-to-end design and delivery of platform capabilities
• Build frameworks and abstractions to eliminate repetitive work for vendor teams
• Drive architecture decisions for infrastructure-as-code and orchestration
• Reduce operational toil through self-healing systems and improved observability
• Mentor SDEs and raise the bar through design reviews and technical standards
• Operate what you build, including on-call duties and root cause analysis
