The Wallet, Payments & Commerce (WPC) team at Apple is seeking experienced engineers to architect and build resilient distributed software systems at scale. • Extensive experience architecting, building, and maintaining mission-critical distributed systems at large scales.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and trade-offs in consistency, latency, and throughput.
• BS degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
• Deep hands-on software development expertise with Java, Kotlin, or Scala and Spring.
• Proven development and operational experience with high-volume REST and/or gRPC services.
• Strong experience designing for containerization and orchestration, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Significant time spent architecting, building, and operating cloud-native applications with resilience and self-healing features.
• Expertise in designing robust CI/CD pipelines and defining infrastructure as code.
• Extensive experience with observability strategies and tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Deep understanding of modern networking and experience using traffic tools for tracing and debugging.
• A fundamental appreciation for security, privacy, and cryptography.
• Hands-on experience optimizing SQL/NoSQL databases for scale.

• Lead the design, build, test, deliver, and maintain exceptional software.
• Drive technical discussions and write specifications.
• Mentor peers and review code to ensure quality.
• Produce impactful documentation for technical concepts.
• Shape the architecture and design of platforms through deep operational experience.
• Communicate effectively across teams and disciplines to influence engineering strategy.
