The (Senior) Research Scientist role at Elanco focuses on driving pharmacological strategies in early drug development for new chemical and biological entities. This position is part of the Non-Clinical Development team and emphasizes mitigating clinical development risks through translational research. The scientist will work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to advance pipeline assets and translate findings into clinical scenarios. The role requires a deep understanding of target pharmacology and therapeutic options.

• DVM or PhD in Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of early-career professional experience in pharmaceutical industry research and/or development.
• Demonstrated expertise in In Vivo pharmacology study design and biomarker identification.
• Strong intercultural and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in English with effective communication skills.

• Design and coordinate translational pharmacological studies for profiling compounds.
• Analyze drug mechanisms of action and generate actionable insights to reduce clinical development risk.
• Manage the integration of translational R&D by coordinating early in vivo profiling programs.
• Provide technical oversight for experimental in vivo studies and select suitable animal disease models.
• Define and implement biomarker strategies for target engagement and pharmacodynamics.
• Execute reverse translational processes by performing meta-analyses of clinical data across species.
• Serve as the translational pharmacology subject matter expert within a complex matrix organization.
• Collaborate with external partners to assess in-licensed products.
• Provide scientific guidance to Marketing and Business Development teams throughout the innovation process.
