The Senior Software Engineer role in the Azure Virtual Machine Scale Sets (VMSS) team focuses on designing and delivering scalable, resilient, and cloud-native infrastructure services. This position involves working on high-impact distributed systems challenges that support millions of cores and serve Fortune 500 customers. • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience is preferred.
• Experience with distributed systems and storage is preferred.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills.

• Work with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a feature.
• Support identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product feature.
• Create and implement code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
• Leverage feedback channels to incorporate insights into future designs or solution fixes.
• Assist in breaking down work items into tasks and provide estimation.
• Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) in monitoring system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.
• Review current developments and seek new knowledge to improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products.
