GitHub is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Git Systems Engineering team, responsible for the largest code-hosting platform globally. The team focuses on building and operating microservices, protocols, and control systems that support Git operations at scale. The ideal candidate will excel in asynchronous communication and contribute to improving the git code-hosting platform with a focus on AI-driven software development. Experience with large-scale distributed systems is a plus.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

• Design, develop, test, and ship high-quality solutions within the team’s service area.
• Lead technical discussions for features in the team’s area of responsibility.
• Write clean, defensive, maintainable code and mentor engineers within the immediate team.
• Provide technical leadership in code reviews to ensure quality standards are met.
• Partner with engineering and product stakeholders to define requirements and deliver milestones.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for the team’s services and troubleshoot complex live-site issues.
• Improve developer workflows by sharing learnings and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
