The Windows Inbox team is seeking a Principal Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple native Windows applications. This role combines engineering and people leadership with strong product ownership, focusing on understanding customer needs and delivering high-quality experiences. The manager will develop a strong engineering team and communicate product health and priorities to senior leaders. The position emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to creating inclusive environments for engineers.

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, building, shipping, and evolving complex customer-facing products.
• 4+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, including coaching engineers and delivering results through others.
• Experience owning customer-facing software products or major product areas across multiple releases.
• Experience using telemetry, analytics, experimentation, customer feedback, and product data to assess application health.

• Lead, coach, and develop a software engineering team while creating an inclusive environment.
• Identify new opportunities beyond the existing roadmap and rapidly prototype promising ideas.
• Partner with product management and design to understand customer needs and shape priorities.
• Own execution from planning through release and ongoing improvement.
• Communicate product health, priorities, risks, trade-offs, and outcomes clearly to senior leaders.
