The Principal Mainframe Software Engineer role at Fidelity Investments involves providing technical leadership within the Stock Plan Services Technology team. This position focuses on enhancing equity compensation applications using a Mainframe technology stack. The engineer will collaborate with various business and IT groups to address complex problems and requests. The team is responsible for developing applications in a mainframe environment, utilizing technologies such as COBOL, DB2, and CICS.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field with 10+ years of experience in mainframe brokerage or stock plan services systems and application development.
• Alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of experience in the job offered or as a technical lead.
• Demonstrated expertise in mainframe application development, automation, and support using COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, MQ-Series, and SQL.
• Experience in mainframe performance tuning and capacity planning.
• Familiarity with development testing tools and methodologies.

• Perform as a full stack engineer within an Agile team, including requirements gathering, development, and end-to-end testing.
• Define, develop, and lead an interactive team to implement application level architecture.
• Provide on-site and on-call support as needed and act as a subject matter expert.
• Develop applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
• Recommend development testing tools and methodologies and review test plans.
• Resolve technical roadblocks involving multiple technologies.
• Collaborate with management to share approaches and develop solutions.
• Lead collaborative sessions with stakeholders and provide guidance to team members.
• Ensure QA readiness of software deliverables and plan system testing.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
• Establish full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
• Advise on risk assessment and management strategies for projects.
• Plan and coordinate project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
• Act as a primary liaison for business units to resolve project and technology issues.
• Provide technology solutions to daily issues and evaluate technology initiatives.
• Perform independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects.
