Job description
As a Principal Engineer in Silicon Engineering at Google, you will lead the technical execution of chipset development from initial definition through to mass production. This role requires collaboration across various teams to ensure hardware innovations are seamlessly integrated with software. You will focus on delivering efficient chipset solutions while managing a global workforce. The position emphasizes technical leadership and operational excellence in custom silicon design.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience with custom silicon design, SoC/ASIC implementation, or hardware-software co-design.
- 10 years of technical leadership experience, including directing SoC development programs from concept to mass production.
- Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience managing global, cross-functional engineering deliverables and aligning schedules across matrixed organizations.
Responsibilities
- Direct the execution of the entire SoC lifecycle, from initial chip definition through to final mass production.
- Partner with specialized teams to lead the integration of proprietary gCPU and high-performance custom IPs.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure hardware innovations have day-one software sponsorship.
- Coordinate deliverables across a highly matrixed global workforce, managing dependencies and resolving technical blockers.
- Lead critical debug forums to drive complex system failure signatures to rapid root-cause closure.
