Job description

The Wastewater Treatment Engineer role at Jacobs involves working with a team of wastewater engineers and designers to tackle complex technical challenges in wastewater treatment. This position is based in Honolulu, Hawaii, and focuses on projects across the Western United States and the Pacific region. The engineer will engage in both design and implementation of treatment systems, ensuring innovative solutions are delivered to clients. The role requires collaboration and communication with clients to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive process mechanical engineering and project delivery experience with water, wastewater, and/or industrial treatment.
  • Strong interest in treatment and/or mechanical system design and operation.
  • Proficient skills with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate treatment and process options to determine the best approaches to solve client challenges.
  • Communicate complex problems and solutions effectively with clients.
  • Design and implement pilot scale treatment systems.
  • Plan and design full-scale treatment systems and treatment plant improvements for construction.
  • Develop facility layouts and process & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
  • Create construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Evaluate and select process equipment, pumping systems, pipe materials, and valves.
  • Conduct data analysis and computer modeling.
  • Write technical reports.
  • Provide bidding and permitting services support.
  • Support construction services.
  • Inspect treatment/mechanical equipment in the field.
