Apple is looking for a product design engineer to join the Retail, Event, & Channel Product Design team. This diverse group focuses on creating innovative fixtures and hardware solutions for Apple products displayed at events and retail stores. The role emphasizes the importance of balancing performance, aesthetics, and customer experience while considering the full lifecycle of designs. Effective communication and collaboration across teams are key components of this position.

• B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• 5+ years of demonstrated ability in mechanical design, preferably in consumer electronics or furniture and fixture design
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a command of engineering fundamentals
• Strong communication and presentation skills to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling and workflows
• Ability to travel up to 15% domestically and internationally
• Experience working with contract manufacturers in an OEM or JDM model
• Experience selecting and designing in materials such as plastic, metal, wood, ceramics, and glass
• Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
• Experience in FEA and analysis tools
• Experience in failure and root cause analysis and DFMEA
• Experience with electro-mechanical integration including connectors, batteries, and electronics packaging

• Scope, design, and engineer products that meet customer requirements
• Develop technology and generate concepts for innovative designs
• Conduct detailed design, analysis, and testing through mass production
• Balance performance, aesthetics, customer experience, reliability, manufacturability, cost, installation, and maintenance in design solutions
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project outcomes
