The Software Development Engineer will join the Data Science and Engineering team within AWS Marketing, focusing on building and scaling next-generation MLOps and agentic AI systems. This role involves working with a serverless, AWS-native stack to create robust data pipelines and AI systems that support marketing decisions. The team values ownership, collaboration, and data-driven decision-making, allowing engineers to see the impact of their work. Candidates will engage in a dynamic environment where they tackle ambiguous problems alongside product and data engineering partners.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience of new and existing systems
• 1+ years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, or distributed software applications
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language
• Experience with designing and building applications using AWS services
• Experience with training and deploying machine learning systems
• Experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on AI acceleration hardware
• Experience with SQL and database technologies such as AWS Redshift

• Design, build, and operate production agentic AI systems and evaluation harnesses
• Own the retrieval and ranking quality loop end to end
• Productionize machine learning models with applied science partners
• Build and scale serverless data pipelines over large datasets
• Raise the operational bar on owned systems through instrumentation and observability
• Write design documents, drive code reviews, and make tradeoff calls
• Work AI-natively and extend agentic development tooling
