Job description
The Staff Research Data Scientist for Search Ads at Google will play a critical role in the Ads Metrics team, which supports the development of key ad products that drive significant revenue for the company. This position involves using advanced data analysis to guide product development and executive decisions, focusing on measuring the long-term impact of changes on users and advertisers. The role requires collaboration with engineering and product management teams to identify growth opportunities and understand the trade-offs between user and advertiser value. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data science and analytics, with a focus on solving complex business problems.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding in languages such as Python, R, or SQL, or 6 years of work experience with a PhD degree.
- Deep expertise in domain knowledge and experience owning outcomes and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders in cross-projects and team settings to identify and clarify business or product questions.
- Provide feedback to translate and refine business questions into tractable analysis, evaluation metrics, or mathematical models.
- Design and evaluate models to mathematically express and solve defined problems with limited precedent.
- Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context around the questions to answer.
- Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources using relevant tools.
